Although offering envelopes are no longer sent home with the Eagle Express, Chapel offerings are still collected in the classroom. Offering is brought collectively to Chapel services. The offerings are used to help fund shipping expenses for Operation Christmas Child.

First Communion
|
There is still time. First communion instruction for parents and 6th grade students and older will take place this Thursday, Sept. 25 at 7pm in the library. Please advise Pastor Mark or April if your child would like to participate.

Daycare Billing Clarification
|
Students will be charged for morning daycare from the time they arrive until 8:10 a.m. when they are dismissed to class. Students arriving between 8:00 a.m. to 8:10 a.m. are not charged. After school daycare students are charged from 3:00 p.m. until they are picked up by their parents. Students that are picked up by 3:15 p.m. are not charged. If your child is involved in an on campus after school activity, there is no charge during the time they are participating in said activity (i.e. SOAR class, orchestra, sports).

Discount for Tuition Paid in Full |
The Board for Parish Education has approved a 5% discount to all who pay their annual tuition in full. Please contact Kari Brogdin by Sept. 30, 2008 to determine the amount remaining. A credit will be applied to the accounts of families who have already paid their annual tuition.

Wear your weepul on Friday, Sept. 26 for free dress day. Parents, please ensure modest attire and closed toe shoes during this time (no tank tops, torn clothes, mid-driffs, etc.). Weepuls were awarded to students for magazine sales.

Family Movie Night |
Thanks for making our Family Movie Night a great success! Parents and kids alike enjoyed a free night of movie fun and fellowship! Be on the look out for future activities.

Fall Break |
Plan ahead! School will not be in session October 20-31. We dismiss at noon on Friday, October 17 for our second annual Golf Tournament. Holiday camp will be open each day. This camp is open to St. John’s students and the community also. Registration forms will be sent home in the next Eagle Express.

Spirit Store Hours
|
Attention all hungry students and parents: Our student store serves healthy, tasty treats thanks to Lorin George, nutritionist. Snack prices range from $.25 - $.50 cents for many of our fruit and homemade dessert offerings, as well as bottled water and 100% juice boxes. The hot entrees start at $.50 cents for our mini bean and cheese burritos; peaking at $1.50 for pizza, pasta bake, meatball subs, and our “world-renown” smoothies. Nothing is priced over $1.50 so come on in and bring your appetite! We have a full supply of gently used uniform pieces for sale at greatly reduced prices. New Christian t-shirts, sweatshirts and PE clothes, along with lots of fun spirit items can be found in our store – so come on in!

Hot Lunch News

Order hot lunch for your child(ren) and support a good cause. Shamsi’s Deli will make a 20% donation for all Monday & Wednesday hot lunch orders for the month of September in support of Relay for Life. Hot lunch order forms are attached. Contact Tiffany Bohman at 604-4848.

SUPPORT AND SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

|
Families are REQUIRED to contribute 20 hours of volunteer work at St. John’s or pay $20 for each hour not completed. An ADDITIONAL 2 HOURS are REQUIRED towards the carnival or pay $100 for each hour not completed. Any additional hours worked at the Carnival may be used toward fulfilling your 20 Service Hour Requirement. Just a reminder that YOU need to log your service hours in the service hour log book in the office, including carnival hours. |

Student Store Helpers |
We are looking for 8-10 volunteers to commit 1-2 afternoons a month to work the store. The store is open from 2:30-4:00 p.m .on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The work is simple, involving some easy prep of food items, supervising our student volunteers, serving food and collecting money. If you can commit a few hours a month to this great project, please call Tiffany at 604-4848.

You can earn service hours while spending time with your kids and fulfilling a need. How? Become a noon-aide or help out after school in Eagle Care. Adult leaders are needed to help supervise the lunch hour from 12:00-1:00. This position would include helping to supervise children at the lunch table and in the field for recess. If you have a love for children and a spare hour now and then, come and join our team. We will work around your schedule. Relay for Life
|
We are looking for team members, donations, as well as walkers during the entire 24 hours, September 27 & 28. This event helps raise awareness for cancer. Kids’ Connection |
Join our Kids’ Connection Sunday School program! Come lead our young children and help them learn more about Jesus! You choose where you want to serve: games, crafts, or lesson. You can earn service hours. All lessons are prepared for you. Time commitment is as little as once every 4-6 weeks or as often as you would like. We are looking for gentle, kind, and loving people who would like to serve in our Kids' Connection Jr. Program. The ages of the children are 4 years old & potty trained and Kindergarteners. The Youth (Teen Connection/ATTIC) serves at the Rescue Mission the first Thursday of every month from 5 to 7:20pm. The next Rescue Mission trip will be Thursday, October 2, from 5-7:20pm. Sign up with April to save your spot. We can only take 15 people.
